Monday tid-bits on Tuesday

Hello again! We survived another week and another week end.

This is a day late because Sunday night was never-ending. My t1d son’s blood sugar was high all night, which meant I was up every three hours testing him and giving him correction shots. Then, during the night my youngest came in and scared me silly by magically appearing by my face and telling me her teeth felt fuzzy…ok…Then three hours after that she showed up again throwing up in my sink. She stayed home so I did too and it was a long day. We’re keeping her home again today just to be sure everything stays on the inside. So far so good.

Here are some things I found delightful, interesting, and insightful, and much more fun to think about:

  • This mash up of two beloveds - harry potter + brooklyn-99 - is inspired.

  • This forthcoming documentary about booksellers looks absolutely delightful - also, can I have that job too?

  • I thought this article was fascinating - although the title is a bit misleading. What an interesting career to have.

  • I finished this book recently and am in such a book hangover the likes of which I haven’t had in months. It was so good. The sequel doesn’t come out for another several months and I miss these characters so much already….!

  • Occasionally, I’ll hear people question the worth of a library and while some of these have been “just playing devil’s advocate” I think it’s something that people ought to know for sure, and this article is a great piece about the necessity of public spaces like libraries in cold areas during winter.

  • Since I’ve started another semester of online school I do a lot of reading on my laptop. I am not sure if they’re actually helping, but these blue light glasses are fun to wear and do make my eyes feel better than when I don’t wear them.

  • And finally, in a world of subscription services I have two to recommend to you:

    • Y’all know that I *adore* my Book of the Month subscription which gives me 5 choices of new hardback books to pick from each month (use this link to get your first box for $5 - an amazing deal!).

    • I now have another favorite and I’ve only gotten one box so far! I’m not great at keeping plants alive, but one of my personal resolutions is to have more living greenery in the house. I’m starting small with succulents and found this subscription service that sends you 2 baby succulents each month with specific instructions for how to care for them. This feels like something I can accomplish. Plus they’re really adorable. If you want to try it you can use this code for $5 off your first box! I got these little pots to put them in from Amazon and I really like them. They’re super cute and seem really well made.

That’s all for today, friends. I’ve got some great book tours coming up in February that I’m really excited to share with you all, and other great post plans so I hope you’ll stop by again. I’d love to hear what you’re enjoying these days!
