Other People’s Clothes, by Calla Henkel

Celebrity Book Club Update: March 2022

March 12, 2022 by Marian Sayer

New month, new book club choices!

Reese Witherspoon X Hello Sunshine - The Club, by Ellery Lloyd - Appears to be a glossy fun thriller of a book, about a club for elite and privileged folks, and at the most exclusive one, people start to die. This sounds like fun. Here for it.

Goop Book Club (Gweneth Paltrow) - Other People’s Clothes, by Calla Henkel - This books seems like an interesting look at female friendships under a microscope of a thriller plot. Two friends rent the apartment of a thriller writer, and it turns out that she’s observing them, using their lives and behaviors as inspiration for her next work. Oh, and their other best friend was just murdered months before. Sounds entertaining and twisty!

Belletrist (Emma Roberts) - In the Shadow of the Mountain, by Silvia Vasquez-Lavado - A memoir of climbing Mount Everest while also overcoming personal trauma, and finding moments of peace. I’m curious about this one and hadn’t heard of it before now.

Read with Jenna (Jenna Bush Hager) - Groundskeeping, by Lee Cole - Described as a love story, this is about a washed up writer who takes a job as a groundskeeper at a local college, and the writer in residence who seems to have and be everything that he is not. Looks like current cultural topics from the past 10 years play into the dynamics of their relationship.

#readwithmc (Marie Claire) - The Paris Apartment, by Lucy Foley - Being compared to Only Murders in the Building, this thriller follows Jess as she tries to figure out where her brother is and what might have happened to him. And Paris.

GMA Book Club - The Love of My Life, by Rosie Walsh - This premise looks like an interesting twist on the thriller trope of alternate lives and domestic secrets. A woman loves her life, but and illness prompts her husband to dig into her life as his obituary writing job has trained him to do. The things he discovers require some accounting for.

Ashley Spivey’s Book Club - The Night Shift, by Alex Finlay - I’m excited about this one too, maybe just because it involves a Blockbuster, but that’s okay. A massacre in a Blockbuster, then another years later in an ice cream shop. What’s going on? Sounds like it’ll be fun to find out.

Oprah’s Book Club - The Way of Integrity: Finding the Path to You True Self, by Martha Beck - For those looking for some self-improvement, this looks like an interesting one. I haven’t seen many books in the self-help and improvement category target that specific word “integrity” and will be filing this away for myself when it’s something I’m ready for.
