Some of my favorite things this year
A different type of year in review post - but these small and charming things have made the repetition of the days a smidge more bearable than they would’ve been otherwise
-This deliciously fluffy blanket that I wear around myself daily has been the best and coziest addition to my winter accessories
-This mug is my very favorite, holds a ton, and is obviously not allowed on school Zoom meetings
-This calendar, which makes turning over a new page an extra joy, and anytime I look at the wall, I grin
-Art from Molly Kars - next year I will get frames, but how can you not be charmed by her work?
-This sweatshirt, which I intended to buy oversized but accidentally bought MUCH oversized. A happy mistake as it’s become my very favorite thing to wear to sleep (I also have this shirt from them and it’s my favorite lighter thing to sleep in, also intentionally oversized of course)
-The table I got over the summer - It feels like I do everything here and I love it
-Every single time I bought myself flowers it was money well spent - from Safeway, from Costco, from Trader Joe’s, it didn’t matter it was always always worth it
-Getting my audiobooks from Libro.fm instead of Audible - listening to audiobooks is a big way that I read more. Not once have I looked for something I wanted and not found it with Libro.fm. BONUS - they let you pick an independent bookstore to support with your purchases and it’s literally the same price as Audible and they have all the features in the app that I like to use
-My favorite perfume - it smells so good and I love it and hope they never stop making it (it’s Juliette Has a Gun - This is Not a Perfume, in case the link goes weird)
-Jami Attenberg’s newsletter, Craft Talk - at $5 a month she sends writing advice and fosters connections and it’s an easy and wonderful way to throw some support at a person who’s work has been helpful and inspiring to me, and the rewards she sends out are golden - I would suggest, if this specific thing isn’t the one for you, to look and see if the authors, podcasters, or other artists you enjoy have. a Patreon or newsletter subscription you can engage in. It’s easy to do and makes a difference
-Also this incredible nightgown that makes me feel like the spinster I aspire to be
I’d love to know what little things have brought you joy or helped you find a grin - be well!
