Egg Marks the Spot, by Amy Timberlake
“I do not know why yaks will not take muffins. The best payment is a delicious payment. Everyone knows this.”
.
Egg Marks the Spot, is the second book in the Skunk and Badger series by Amy Timberlake, with pictures by Jon Klassen. The story is reminiscent of Frog and Toad in tone and friendship and will delight young readers and any adults who grab the story.
In this story, Skunk and Badger are off on an adventure. Badger, in search of an elusive rock, and Skunk just wants his Sunday Times Book Review and a cozy morning of peace. They help each other, understand each other, and make space for the quirks, peculiarities, and gifts they both have.
Skunk and Badger embark on a camping trip to search out the mysterious agate and encounter a suspicious chicken at their campsite who prompts even more mischief, twists and turns from unforeseen people and places that test Skunk and Badger’s wits, patience, and skills.
A fantastic combination of cozy, witty, and adventure, I hope Skunk and Badger continue to adventure together for many more books to come. Marked as for ages 6-8, the book has a large vocabulary that would also be fun for ages up to 10 or beyond as well. Would make a phenomenal read aloud for classrooms or family’s.
